Thank you for taking the time to get to know me better.
I am an accomplished marketing and communications consultant with more than 20 years of experience helping mission-driven organizations amplify their stories and extend their impact. As founder and principal of Laura Farmer Marketing, I serve as a trusted strategic partner to leading institutions across the arts, education, leadership, and healthcare sectors.
I specialize in integrated marketing strategy, media relations, thought leadership, and editorial storytelling. My clients include some of the region’s and nation’s most respected organizations. Some of my recent project for clients include:
In addition to my consulting work, I am an award-winning editorial writer and ghostwriter, regularly contributing to Baltimore Magazine, Baltimore Style, Washington Family, MidAtlantic Media, and more. A versatile writer, I can create longform features, executive profiles, whitepapers, and op-eds for leaders in the nonprofit, healthcare, and education sectors. Always ahead of the curve, I have studied best practices for adopting AI tools to generate more content for clients at a fraction of the price, without sacrificing quality and authenticity.
I earned an MBA with a marketing concentration from Loyola University Maryland, which featured me in their 2013 “See Business Differently” advertising campaign.
In a former life, I was a coloratura soprano, earning a bachelor’s degree in music performance with an opera concentration from Gordon College. As a singer, I studied in Salzburg, Austria under the tutelage of world-renowned musicians of the Salzburg Summer Music Festival and performed at various music festivals in Austria. My performance highlights include appearances with the Annapolis Opera, the Arundel Vocal Arts Society, Handel Choir of Baltimore, The Mount Vernon Players and the Bethesda Opera Program. The Baltimore Sun described one of my performances as, "Soprano Sarich (Farmer) looked and sounded exactly right."
I live near Bel Air, Md. with my husband, Tim, and our four children. We believe that creating a better world begins with contributing to and serving in our own community. I serve on my neighborhood HOA board and plan and facilitate three community events each year. I am an active member of the PTAs for my children’s elementary and middle schools, heading their elementary school’s fall and spring fundraisers. I provide pro-bono fundraising support for The Forgotten Initiative, which provides Life Skills 101 classes to youth in foster care in Harford County who are aging out of care. I served as a founding board member for the Deer Creek Chorale in 2007 and as a panelist for Maryland State Arts Council’s “Arts in Communities” grant review board in 2008.
